I like the paint job dude, good to see someone who worked with the HPI purple rather than trying to escape it. I think it looks sweet! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

It's my first RC car/truck. Space is limited in London, so I had to go small (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It's 1/18 scale.

Thinking of getting a buggy, but not sure what scale would be good. I want something fast on grass!!

well it all comes down to how hard you want to bash your buggy.
1/8 for big air or 1/5 for bit less but they are becoming more popular.

I want to bash it quite hard i.e. it must still run well after a 5m high jump (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Do you know of any that can do that? And it's got to be fassst > 60mph !!

i think the best buggys are hobao hyper 8, they are good at jumping and you can bash them hard, but they wont do 60mph probably about 45mph tops

Have you considered something electric? It maybe worth looking into if you are bashing in and around london as the noise can be a problem if you are near houses.
Losi and Traxxas have both just released some new models that have a brushless/LiPo set-up which will do around 60+mph depending on what battery you go for.

What I've read about electric is that you only get 10 to 15 mins play time, and then it's back home to charge the batteries. I could have multiple battery packs, and just switch them. Assuming 15mins runtime, I will need to get 10 battery packs for 2.5 hours of fun. Charging them will take 7.5 hours assuming a 45min fast charge, and you've got to be around to switch the battery packs in the charger.

With nitro, runtime isn't great either. I get around 5mins runtime with 30mL of fuel. For 2.5 hours of fun, I'll need 0.9 litres. After that I take the truck home and clean it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
But nitro is very noisy, so I'm looking to get a piece of land converted to a race track not too close to residential areas.

But in terms of speed, electric is getting faster than nitro these days.

tbh m8 you have a big ZERO chance of getting any land near houses, this is the problem trying to get a track going in london if you have an electric track only it will be a bit more easy i think. there is a electric only on-road in west london..

to run nitros you gonna need to find land far from houses as the noise will be a big issuse..

i dont know if you have herd how loud 1/10th and 1/8th on or off road cars are but when you got 10 or so on track at 1 time its really loud...

Welcome to RC-X

Where abouts are you based Matt? I assume its the london area, in which case depends which part. If you're North/East then I know the Essex Bashers are out regularly & have some decent sites. The london guys meet up in Crystal Palace (http://www.rc-extreme.co.uk/forum/Crystal-Palace-Bash-t6754.html) & there's not much activity on here from the Berkshire guys, but if you are south/west the southampton guys take a trip up to Basingstoke once a month (This Sunday) where there's a real good spot.
